Kidney Research UK

Celebrating 50 years of funding research to save lives. Help us with our vision of a world free from kidney disease.

Trustee Vacancies

We are recruiting for trustees to our board.

Can you make a contribution to the delivery of our vision for Kidney Research in the UK?

Who we are

Kidney Research UK was founded in 1961 and is the leading UK charity dedicated to funding research aimed at finding better treatments, and ultimately a cure, for kidney disease. We have over £10 million invested in research at any one time, awarding grants to doctors, nurses and researchers across the UK. We also award grants to kidney patients so that they can cope with the unexpected costs of their condition, and campaign for better patient access to renal services and are dedicated to raising awareness of kidney disease.

Who we're looking for

These are exciting but challenging times for Kidney Research UK, we have managed to increase our research funding by over 30% in the last 3 years where many similar organisations have cut back. Our challenge will be to continue to increase our commitment to our charitable objects, in an increasingly cash strapped environment. We are looking for exceptional people who feel they can help us to achieve this.

You must have an interest in medical research and be able to actively engage and assist at a strategic and advisory level, bringing skills from one of a number of areas such as: Medical Research, Regulation and Governance, The NHS, Patient and Carer experience, Financial Investment and Banking, Accountancy, Marketing, The Media, Celebrity and PR contact, Brand Management, General Business Management, Organisational Development, Legal/Corporate Secretary.

We welcome applications from leaders in medical research, medicine, commerce, media or public services and patients and carers of patients. We firmly believe that our Trustees are vital to our success and must have a clearly defined role, so that they can feel that they contribute to that success.

The time commitment is 4 to 5 days per year, for Trustee meetings and another 2 to 5 days per year for sub-committee and charity event participation. The role is unpaid but expenses will be reimbursed. A full trustee role description and information regarding our governance structure and function can be viewed in the link below.

If either you or someone you know is interested in this opportunity or for further details, please contact: Gina Isaac, HR Manager. Email: ginaisaac@kidneyresearchuk.org or call: 01733 367840.
